Riding the waves, building brotherhood

We were excited for our day at Green Lake 2025, even though there were a few things we were not fully certain about, including who would be able to make it. Thankfully, almost everyone was there that day, with just one brother possibly dealing with a headache or stomach issue. Even with that, we were able to enjoy the pontoon ride, fellowship together, share snacks, laugh through the rough waves, and make memories we will never forget.

“Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters, they see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep.” — Psalm 107:23–24. Our trip reminded us that God's presence can be felt in the wind, the waves, and the fellowship of His people.

A day we will always remember

From the dock to open water, this trip became more than a boat ride. It became a picture of brotherhood, trust, laughter, first-time experiences, and a reminder that trying something new together can be a blessing.

Our Green Lake 2025 story

We went to Green Lake 2025 as brothers from church to relax, ride together, get to know each other better, and enjoy a new adventure on the water. The road was long, the waves were strong at times, and the day gave us stories we will be talking about for years.

What the day felt like

We set out with excitement, not knowing just how fun the day would be. Some of us were completely new to riding on a pontoon, and once the boat was moving, we quickly learned that boating is not for everyone. A few brothers started feeling the motion and the headaches came on, but thankfully someone had medicine with them and that helped save the ride.

The waves were strong at times, and it felt like the water had a mind of its own. Still, we were blessed to have a few drivers who could steer the boat well and keep us moving safely. Along the way we had simple snacks— sandwiches, chips, and soda—but somehow it all tasted better out on the lake.

Like Noah stepping into the ark by faith, we stepped onto the boat together. Not because the journey was perfect, but because we trusted the day, embraced the experience, and stayed together through the ride.

More than a trip

We talked, laughed, looked out over the water, and got to know one another in a different way than we do inside the church walls. We even caught a glimpse of a church near the lake and said to ourselves that one day it would be wonderful if our church could be by the lake too.

Some brave men went up to the top and came back with a nice sun tan. We enjoyed the scenery so much that it even felt like we might have gone over the speed limit once or twice. Andy brought his new gimbal and filmed the day for us, which made the trip even more special. Pheng also saved the day for us and made sure the ride stayed on course and did not turn into a disaster.

By the end, we realized this was one of those first-time experiences that becomes a forever memory. We did not expect so much joy from trying something new, but we thank God for the laughter, the safety, and the fellowship.

We came back thankful.
New memories, stronger friendship, and a deeper sense that God can use simple outings to strengthen His people.

Bible reflections from the water

Boating together reminded us of many moments in Scripture—Noah in the ark, the disciples on the water, and the call to become fishers of men. The lake became a place to think about trust, fellowship, and faith.

Genesis 6–8 • Noah and the ark
Noah trusted God and entered the ark before the rain made sense. In our own small way, stepping into a new experience together reminded us that faith often begins before comfort.
Matthew 4:19 • Fishers of men
Being on the water naturally pointed us back to Jesus calling ordinary men into a greater purpose. Fellowship on the lake became a reminder that ministry grows when men walk together.
Mark 4:39 • Peace in the storm
When the waves became strong, it was easy to think about Christ calming the sea. Even when a ride feels rough, His peace is still greater than the water around us.

A first-time trip, a forever memory

We did not know exactly what to expect when we headed to Green Lake 2025, but by the time the day was over, we knew we had shared something special. The waves were strong, the ride was new, the snacks were simple, the filming was a blessing, and the laughter was real. Most of all, it reminded us that brotherhood grows when men take time to be together, try something new, and thank God for the day He gives them.

We wonder what adventure the Lord will bring for us in 2026.
